We are now fast approaching the end of our second year of homeschooling. It is truly one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things I have ever done.
When I first had children, I never considered staying home with them. I wasn’t Christian at the time and it seemed quite natural for me to simply leave them with someone else while I continued on in my career.
Now I must admit that our family was blessed because that “someone else” for the first few years was my mother. If there is anyone on earth that can love any child as much as their own mother, it’s my mother. So by God’s grace my children didn’t suffer but I missed out on so much in their toddler years.
God has slowly changed almost everything that I used to be quite certain of, and homeschooling is just another one of those things. I used to say to other home school moms, “Well I’m glad you enjoy it, it’s great it works for you but I could never home school my kids.” God has such a way of teaching us not to say the word – never.
It amazes me how natural it feels to teach our children at home now. I’ve heard others say that God never intended for us to send our children off to public institutes to be educated. Now days, more than teaching our children the three R’s, the public school system desires to indoctrinate our youth into an anti-God world view.
If you have any questions or just want to be encouraged in your recent decision to home school, I would love to talk with you.
You can do it too! Remember, each of us can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
